The Global Conference of Decent Jobs for Youth aims at accelerating efforts at global, regional, and country-level to improve the lives of young people around the world. This year the conference will be hosted in Kigali, Rwanda from 22-23 May 2024.
Under the tag “Young, Green & Digital”, the 2024 edition of the Global Conference will concentrate on catalysing youth-responsive green and digital transitions, bringing together government representatives, social partners, young people, academia and many other key stakeholders to engage in a dialogue about effective and innovative youth employment investments in the green and digital economies.
The Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions will be part of a thematic session: Integrating jobs and social protection policies and investing in green and digital economies to be held on Thursday, 23 May 2024, 11:30-12:30 (GMT+2).
This session will explore how integrated employment and social protection policies and programmes can contribute effectively to meeting the decent jobs for youth challenge in a time of profound transformations. The aim is to ensure that young people participate in and benefit from tailored policies that not only facilitate their transition into the workforce but also secure their future in emerging sectors such as green and digital. The session will spotlight the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions as a recent global initiative addressing decent work challenges for young people This session will bring together different perspectives from governments, UN, and development partners.
