At the 2023 SDG Summit, Member States committed to advancing bold, ambitious and transformative action to accelerate achievement of the SDGs between now and 2030. In pursuing this objective, they encouraged all relevant actors to better address interlinkages, synergies and trade-offs across the SDGs.
This event will provide an update on progress being achieved through the “High Impact Initiatives” (HIIs), championed by the United Nations development system and others at the 2023 SDG Summit. It will also explore the importance of mobilizing investments for critical SDG transitions and showcase countries and programmes that are already making progress in that direction, drawing on the work of the Joint SDG Fund.
With only six years to go to 2030, the Special Event will examine the role of SDG transitions in SDG acceleration, profile concrete examples of progress and highlight the crucial connection between the development of updated NDCs and SDG acceleration. As we look ahead to the Summit of the Future and Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, it will also highlight the importance of reform of the international architecture and access to the necessary means to acceleration.
