The SDG Learning, Training and Practice (or SDGs in Practice for short) is a series of capacity-building and knowledge-learning training sessions focused on essential topics related to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, held annually as a Special Event in the margins of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
The training sessions are facilitated by the New York Office of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Division for Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).

The thematic review of SDG 8 at the High-Level Political Forum in July 2025 presents a pivotal opportunity to assess progress, identify best practices and mobilize collective action to accelerate SDG implementation.
The Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions, by creating country platforms, help countries accelerate their progress in achieving the SDGs one of them is particularly SDG8.
The SDGs in Practice session, "Accelerating SDG 8: Investing in Decent Jobs and Just Transitions Through the Global Accelerator", hosted by the ILO, along with the Global Accelerator's Technical Support Facility (FAO, UNDP, UNICEF, UN Women, WFP) will bring government representatives, practitioners, and technical experts from the UN agencies and will particularly focus on the thematic review of SDG 8. It will:
- Raise awareness on high impact initiatives aimed at demonstrating that transformative progress is possible despite challenging global circumstances and with a focus on the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions which aims to fast-track progress on SDG 8 by fostering integrated policy and financing solutions that improve job quality and promote just transitions
- Discus policy solutions, financing strategies, and tools and technical assistance offered through the Global Accelerator’s Technical Support Facility (TSF) to address challenges posed by climate change, informality, demographic shifts and digitalization at the national level
- Convene relevant stakeholders to exchange experiences, lessons learned and best practices for accelerated SDG implementation through the promotion of jobs and social protection.
