The Global Accelerator offers integrated approaches and expertise, through its three interlinked and mutually supportive pillars, that aim to increase the level and coordination of the multilateral system’s efforts to help countries create 408 million decent jobs and extend social protection to the 3.8 billion people currently uncovered.

Integrated policies

Labour market challenges such as informality, lack of decent jobs, and structural weaknesses in social protection systems need to be addressed simultaneously. The Global Accelerator’s approach promotes integrated policies, at the system or sectoral level, to break down silos, deliver services in a more comprehensive manner and address these challenges. Take a look at the thematic roadmaps that have been the building blocks of the Global Accelerator, which countries have adapted for their roadmaps and interventions.

Integrated financing

The Global Accelerator mobilizes high-level political commitment to prioritize employment and social protection in national development plans and investment strategies. Through a whole-of-government approach and the active involvement of finance ministries and financing partners, it promotes investments that generate strong social returns.
