The Global Accelerator has been recognized by the G7, G20, the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) as a Sevilla Platform for Action initiative, the Second World Summit for Social Development in the Doha Political Declaration, the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS), the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and the UN General Assembly.
Members of the Steering Group, with support of the TSF, regularly organize advocacy events to showcase country progress in creating decent jobs and extending social protection for just transitions.
An inclusive model of development is at the core of the Global Accelerator, with multilateral cooperation and coherence being among its trademarks. This model has resonated at the national level, demonstrated by the high-level political commitment and engagement, and at the global level, with the recognition and endorsement for the Global Accelerator across political declarations and communiqués.
The following section presents an overview of the declarations where the Global Accelerator has been highlighted, since it began implementation.
2025, 30-31 OctoberUN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB), 2nd Regular Session
2025/2/SEGMENT 2
“Central to both United Nations and regional efforts is placing decent work and social protection at the heart of economic policymaking. Employment, job quality, and income security must become explicit objectives of fiscal, trade, and industrial strategies. The UN system should support countries in designing employment centred macroeconomic frameworks, assessing job impacts, and aligning national strategies with targets such as informality reduction, wage equity, and universal social protection coverage. As underscored in the Doha Political Declaration of the Second World Summit for Social Development, the UN Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions would be a relevant vehicle to do so.”
